Firefighters & EMS Fund Leadership Attends FAMA/FEMSA 2021 Hill Days

Fire Fighters and EMS Fund -Press Release-min

WASHINGTON, DC. – Executive Director of Firefighters & EMS Fund Nile Porter participated in virtual hill meetings with congressional offices from Virginia and Wisconsin last month during Hill Day in Washington DC. This year, the FAMA/FEMSA Hill Days took place virtually from May 18th through May 20th, 2021.

These meetings are essential to keeping congressional members and aides aware of new obstacles first responders are facing given that they must stay abreast of so many other issues, both in their respective states and throughout the nation as a whole. These meetings were to urge them to fund essential federal grant programs AFG (Assistance to Firefighters Grants program) and SAFER (Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response) funded as fully as possible.

“When we conduct meetings on the hill, it is important that representatives and their staffers understand we are meeting with them as industry stakeholders who have a unique perspective on the challenges fire departments are facing. We convene with them as individual members of the FAMA|FEMSA association foremost and leaders of essential companies who provide manufacturing and services second,” said Executive Director Nile Porter. “It is truly inspiring to be part of the greater voice urging congress to pay attention to the needs of America’s first line of response.”
